[JAN. 6, 2006]  Members of Lincoln AMVETS Post 71 and Lincoln AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary delivered Christmas gifts Dec. 21 and 22 to the 48 male veterans and two female veterans in the three nursing homes in Lincoln. Members visited with each of the veterans, thanked them for their service to our country and also visited other residents.

There have been many inquiries about the gray granite bricks being installed around All Veterans Memorial Monument in All Veterans Park, and orders from veterans, family and friends are still being accepted. The cost of the bricks for the Veterans Honor Roll is $35. The next laying date is unknown at this time, but orders should be sent in immediately so that all can be included at the next laying. It takes considerable time to prepare the bricks. All bricks ordered before Nov. 10 have been laid.

Don't forget -- these make a wonderful, lasting gift for any occasion also. This is just one way to honor the veterans of all wars for their sacrifice and service to our country.

Visit the park at Union and Pekin streets and College Avenue. You will also feel the reverence that these veterans are being honored with.

Forms are available in the container at the park, or call 732-8829 and a form can be mailed to you. They are fully explanatory. Complete the form, attach your $35 and return to the address given on the form.

[Arnold Haak, Veterans Honor Roll chairman, Lincoln AMVETS Post 71]
