Two Oklahoma women injured in I-55 accident

[JULY 6, 2006]  SPRINGFIELD -- Two Oklahoma women were taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Bloomington following a single-vehicle tumbling accident on Interstate 55. Their injuries were reported as non-life-threatening.

The accident took place at Milepost 136 near Atlanta at 12:09 p.m. on Wednesday.

Ella Mae Suttle, 63, was driving southbound with passenger Ora L. Hall, who just turned 92 the day before, on July 4. Both women are from Tulsa, Okla.

Suttle was driving a silver 2001 Mazda Tribute. She became distracted with something inside the vehicle and drove into the center median, causing the vehicle to overturn multiple times. The vehicle came to rest facing north in the northbound lanes of travel on I-55.

Agencies assisting the Illinois State Police at the scene were the Logan County Sheriff's Department, Lincoln Rural Fire Department, Logan County Paramedics, Atlanta Fire Department and Illinois Department of Transportation.

Suttle was issued a citation for improper lane usage.
