Oakford alternative agriculture, conservation, vineyard tour set  Send a link to a friend

[JULY 12, 2006]  PETERSBURG -- The Lower Sangamon Valley Partnership welcomes you to join the Menard County Soil and Water District in a tour of the Hill Prairie Winery in Oakford on Aug. 9 at 10 a.m. This tour promises to be both informational and interesting as participants learn about alternative agriculture and conservation, tour the vineyard, sample grapes, and enjoy a lunch, all provided by the Lower Sangamon Valley Partnership.

The Hill Prairie Winery is a successful business in the heartland of central Illinois. Five generations still work the land. They have honored their past by naming the winery after the land where it was born. It is surrounded by native Illinois prairie grasses.

The Lower Sangamon Valley Partnership is an Illinois not-for-profit corporation to promote, preserve, protect and enhance the natural, cultural, economic and recreational resources of the Sangamon Valley and its watershed. The partnership, comprised of Cass, Christian, Logan, Mason, Menard and Sangamon counties, is supported through membership dues and a support grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
