[JUNE 14, 2006]  Illinois State Police officers, along with members of Cadet Class 111, will join more than 3,000 officers throughout the state in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. Local Special Olympic athletes will join the officers and cadets on West Monroe Street as they run to the ISP Armory Building, carrying the torch into Springfield.

Traditionally, the Illinois law enforcement community has been the largest contributor of funding for the Special Olympics throughout the year, with self-initiated fundraisers. Last year, the Illinois State Police was first out of 60 participating law enforcement agencies in raising funds for the Torch Run, with a total of $45,750.85 in donations.
