[JUNE 16, 2006]  HARTSBURG -- It took an extra inning, but Steak n Shake gave Hartsburg-Emden their first loss of the season in 13-14-year-old action Thursday night at Hartem. Steak n Shake won 7-6 as Conner McQuellon scored on a base hit by Justin Jenkins in the top half of the eighth inning.

Jenkins pitched six innings, striking out 13 batters before giving way in relief to McQuellon, who pitched two scoreless innings to earn the victory.

Zach Toft had two hits and scored two runs. Others who had hits for S n S were Brandon Chrisman, Tanner Smith, Kyle Shanle, Alex Schonauer, Garrett Cooper and Derrick Grieser.

Devon Swart had a triple and knocked in two runs to help Hartem come from behind to eventually tie the game before Steak n Shake pulled ahead for good in the eighth.
