[JUNE 21, 2006]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, at 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Bingo sponsored by St. Clara's Manor

St. Clara's Manor will sponsor the bingo games beginning at 1 p.m. Thursday at The Oasis. Bring a friend, come join the fun and win a prize!

Writers to meet at the senior center library

The Memories class is scheduled to meet Friday, beginning at 3:45 p.m., in the Oasis library. Writers are invited to join this lively group to hone their writing skills. No reservations are necessary. Please bring writing material.

Food orders coming Friday

The Self Help and Resource Exchange is a food cooperative sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Peoria that offers food at reduced price. June orders will be available for pickup Friday between 4 and 5:30 p.m. at The Oasis. People interested can also stop by for more information about the program, which is open to everyone, regardless of age, faith and income.

Bunco games Monday

Bunco games will begin at 1 p.m. Monday the senior center. Bring a friend and come for a day of fun! Refreshments provided. Last month's bunco winner was Henry Warnisher.

Tuesday lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for June 27 features tuna salad sandwich, carrots and celery sticks, dessert, and a drink for only $3.75, or $3.25 if you stay and play cards. The reservation deadline is 4 p.m. Monday.

Breakfast bingo June 29

Come join the fun June 29 for breakfast bingo, sponsored by The Oasis and Christian Village. Breakfast will feature french toast, sausage links and fresh fruit. Tickets are available for $3.50 at The Oasis. The deadline to purchase a ticket is 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Second annual ice cream social

The Oasis will host its second annual ice cream social on July 1. The senior center will be open from 2 to 4 p.m. for you to enjoy homemade cakes and generous portions of some good old-fashioned ice cream. Tickets for the event will be $3 per person. Tickets are available in advance at the senior center, or just drop in and join us for some afternoon fun. All proceeds will be used to support the programs and activities of The Oasis.

Winners for the week announced

Larry Van Bibber and Mina Bradburn were weekday pinochle winners. Weekend pinochle winners were Esther Will and Wilbur Wilmert. Winners at five-in-one were Betty Burger and Bernie DePuy. The rummy winner was Dorothy Oltmanns. Congratulations.
