Severe weather possible          Send a link to a friend

[JUNE 21, 2006]  There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon and evening in areas southward to about the Interstate 70 corridor.

A nearly stationary frontal boundary will remain across northern Illinois on Wednesday. Scattered thunderstorms are possible in the warm and humid air mass over the region to the south of this front. In areas where storms develop, they will form rapidly and may become severe, with damaging wind gusts the primary threat. Large hail and very heavy rain is also possible with any severe storms. The most favored time for severe storms will be the late afternoon and early evening hours.

Spotter information statement

Spotter activation may be needed Wednesday afternoon and evening, primarily from 3 to 7.
