[JUNE 22, 2006]  A Mount Pulaski woman lost her life as the result of injuries sustained when the motorcycle she was riding was struck by a vehicle at the corner of Logan and Keokuk streets.

Colleen McKinney, 44, was a passenger on a motorcycle driven by her husband, Scott. She was pronounced dead at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital at 9:55 p.m. Wednesday.

Scott was taken to Memorial Hospital in Springfield, where he underwent surgery this morning.

The 17-year-old driver of the vehicle that struck the McKinneys did not stop at the accident. He was apprehended later.

Illinois State Police accident reconstructionists were called in to investigate.

The accident was the second in two days when a driver did not stop after an accident on different sections of Illinois Route 10 that runs through town.

Late Tuesday morning a 25-year-old McLean man, Clint L. Gordon, ran his Chevrolet Silverado pickup into the back of a Buick LeSabre driven by Linda Stone. Both vehicles were eastbound on Woodlawn Road at about Monroe Street when the impact began. Gordon continued to drive, pushing the Stone car 700 feet down the road, and then drove off when the car was out of his way. He was apprehended by Lincoln police about a mile from the accident scene and charged with leaving the scene of an accident.

Stone and her daughter Mary were treated and released at ALMH.
