[MARCH 10, 2006]  SPRINGFIELD -- State Sen. Larry Bomke, R-Springfield, (right) spoke as a sponsor of Gary Wright (left) during the Illinois Senate Executive Appointments Committee session on Thursday, when committee members recommended Wright's appointment to be the new director of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency.

Wright is a resident of the 50th District and was recently appointed by Gov. Blagojevich to be the IEMA director. However, for Wright to be officially named director, his appointment must be confirmed by the Senate Executive Appointments Committee as well as the entire Senate.
