Larry Bomke, R-Springfield, (right) spoke as a sponsor of Dan Bluthard (left) during the Illinois Senate Executive Appointments Committee session on Thursday, when committee members recommended Bluthard's appointment to be the new director of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.

Bluthard is a resident of the 50th District and was recently appointed by Gov. Blagojevich to be the IDFPR director. However, for Bluthard to be officially named director, his appointment must be confirmed by the Senate Executive Appointments Committee as well as the entire Senate.
