The Lincoln/Logan County Chamber of Commerce will
sponsor its seventh annual Ag Day Breakfast on Wednesday at 7 a.m.
The event, to take place in the Laughlin Center on the campus of
Lincoln Christian College and Seminary, is part of the National
Agriculture Week observance.
|
Keynote speaker for the
event is Chuck Hartke, director of the Illinois Department of
Agriculture. Hartke will provide an overview of issues, information
and the economic impact of agriculture in Illinois. The highlight
of the breakfast will be the announcement of the 2006 Ag Day
Scholarship winners. A total of $6,000 in scholarships will be
awarded to Logan County students who are studying agriculture,
particularly those interested in returning to Logan County.

Bill Sahs, chairman of the Ag Day event, emphasizes that the
scholarship program and breakfast for the community would not be
possible without the generous support of local businesses. Sponsors
will be listed on a keepsake coffee mug and recognized during the
event through vendor tables, promotional giveaways and a PowerPoint
slide presentation.
There is no charge to attend the breakfast, but a reservation is
required. RSVPs must be received prior to 5 p.m. today (Monday) and
may be made by calling (217) 735-2385.
