[MARCH 22, 2006]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, at 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Light lunch bingo

On Thursday, St. Clara's Manor will sponsor a "light lunch," consisting of sandwiches and treats, at The Oasis. The lunch will begin at noon, followed by bingo at 1 p.m. Bring a friend, come join the fun, and win a prize!

Writers to meet in Oasis library

The Memories class is scheduled to meet at 3:45 p.m. Friday in the library at the senior center. Writers are invited to join this lively group to hone their writing skills. No reservations are necessary. Please bring writing material.

SHARE food coming

The Self Help and Resource Exchange, a food cooperative sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Peoria, offers food at reduced prices. March orders will be available for pickup Friday between 4 and 5:30 p.m. People can also stop by The Oasis for more information about the program, which is open to everyone, regardless of age, faith and income.

Bunco

Bunco games will begin at 1 p.m. Monday. Bring a friend and come join the fun.

Breakfast bingo

Come join the fun March 30 at breakfast bingo, sponsored by The Oasis and Christian Village. Breakfast will feature biscuits and gravy, egg casserole, bacon, and fruit cup. Tickets are available for $3.50. Deadline to purchase a ticket is Monday.

Tuesday lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for March 28 will feature fish fillets, baked beans, cottage cheese, tomatoes, bread and butter, dessert, and a drink for only $3.75, or $3.25 if you stay and play cards. Reservation deadline is noon Monday.

Spring card party

Join the spring card party at The Oasis from 1 to 4 on April 1 for an afternoon of fun, cards and treats. The ticket donation is only $5 per card player. Tickets may be purchased at the front desk or from an Oasis representative. Act quickly because the deadline for tickets is March 29. All proceeds are used to support the programs and activities of the senior center.

Winners for the week announced

Ruth Aper and Eleanor Barton were weekday pinochle winners. The weekend pinochle winners were Wilbur Wilmert and Ruth Ackerman. Winners at five-in-one were Linda Hughes and Bernie DePuy. Congratulations, winners!
