The Lincoln Police Department has updated the interview system
within the department. The system is now digitally recorded. Both
oral and video recordings are made during interviews. The recordings
are then placed on CDs and held for evidence. The system is up and
running and is working well. A detective retired from the
department, and Sgt. Tom Rowland was moved into the detective
division from the patrol division. Rowland is doing a great job
along with Sgt. Paul Adams. They are keeping very busy and are
working together well.
All officers, along with the secretary on the police department,
are being updated on training with hazmat and blood-borne pathogens.
The department is continuing in-house training to keep up with
being National Incident Management System-compliant. Each officer on
the department received the minimum training, and the second phase
of training was completed by the end of 2005. Supervisors went into
a third phase of training early in 2006. As of now the department is
on a good timetable with the NIMS training.

seizure of two vehicles, along with drugs and money (approximately
$4,000).
The Lincoln Police Department sent one officer to the Louisiana
area to assist with Task Force Illinois and the Louisiana State
Police during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The officer was in
Louisiana for about 14 days.
Officers' protective ballistic vests were replaced.
