Memorial Day service set for Monday morning at Logan County Courthouse          Send a link to a friend

[MAY 27, 2006]  The Memorial Day service at the Logan County Courthouse in Lincoln will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday. John Cotner, detachment chaplain and past 4th Division commander of the Sons of the American Legion, will be the guest speaker. The Rev. Randy Azbell, director of youth music and worship at the Heyworth United Church, will give the invocation and the benediction.

There will be a firing squad, and taps will be played in memory of fallen comrades. The auxiliaries of the local veterans organizations will participate in the laying of a wreath at the soldiers statue.

The local veterans organizations are the sponsors of the Memorial Day service.

Ham and beans will be served at the American Legion Home following the service.

Citizens of Lincoln and surrounding areas are asked to take time out to honor and remember those young men and women who gave their lives to keep this country free, and also remember those who are fighting now in defense of our country, at this very moment. Please say a prayer for them.

Remember that freedom is not free.
