Sandwich sale and bake sale at IGA

[NOV. 3, 2006]  Mark your calendars and plan to attend the rib-eye and pork chop sandwich sale and bake sale at Lincoln IGA on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Proceeds from the event will be directed to the Logan County Health Department's Personal Care Services Program. The funding provides low-income senior citizens with bath and personal care assistance.

This third annual event is sponsored by AFSCME Council 31, Local 1277 of the American Federation of State and County Municipal Employees.

This year the council is partnering with the Lincoln Junior Woman's Club, whose members selected to participate in the effort as their community improvement project for 2006-2008. The club will provide additional baked goods for the sale. Members will be also looking for other ways to become more personally involved with the program.

Funds raised by the Lincoln Juniors are budgeted annually for their chosen community project. The members have committed to donate $200 for the program this year and $200 next year.

Additional funding is also provided by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. Each year Thrivent has generously supplied funds toward this worthwhile cause.
