Monday blood drive reminder          Send a link to a friend

[NOV. 4, 2006]  Help your friends, family and neighbors. Donate blood on Monday between noon and 6 p.m. at the Lincoln Masonic Center, 2022 N. Kickapoo St., next to the Illinois Department of Motor Vehicles office.

Did you know? Cancer and leukemia patients are the No. 1 recipients of blood. Because of chemotherapy and radiation treatments, they are unable to form new blood cells. Blood transfusions help replenish their bodies with fresh cells. You can help by donating blood.

Call Tara toll-free to sign up at 1-866-GIVE-BLD (1-866-448-3253), ext. 56. Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are certainly welcome.

The Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Auxiliary along with the Logan County Health Department and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans are sponsoring the November community blood drive.

[to top of second column]

The Central Illinois Community Blood Center supplies all blood to 19 Illinois hospitals, including Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln and all hospitals in Springfield.

If you have questions about whether or not you can donate, please feel free to call the blood center.

Thank you for saving a life.

[Tara Matheson, donor recruiter, Central Illinois Community Blood Center]
