[NOV. 10, 2006]  MIDDLETOWN -- The committee for the observance of the community's 175th anniversary met Nov. 2 at the Middletown Village Hall. The Middletown Presbyterian and Methodist churches, American Legion, and the Legion Auxiliary have agreed to serve meals on Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday noon during the terquasquicentennial celebration, scheduled for June 15-17, 2007.

The committee is still looking to secure a carnival for the celebration. Information was located for a Vietnam Wall display to rent for the weekend. The celebration will not include helicopter rides, due to scheduling conflicts. An alternative of using hot-air balloons was discussed.

The committee will be raffling off a 2007 Pontiac G6 from Graue Chevrolet in Lincoln. Second prize will be a large-screen TV, and third prize is a collection of Middletown historical items. Tickets were sold at the Lincoln Wal-Mart on Nov. 4 and will also be available at the Nov. 12 brunch at the Presbyterian church. Each ticket is $20.

The next committee meeting will be Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. at the Middletown Village Hall.
