LCC Angels open tournament with two wins

[NOV. 10, 2006]  The Lincoln Christian College Angels opened their quest for the National Christian College Athletic Association Division II national championship with two wins Thursday.

LCC defeated North Central University of Minneapolis, Minn., 30-20, 31-33, 30-20, 30-19. In their second match of the day, the Angels defeated Philadelphia Biblical University of Langhorne, Pa., 28-30, 30-23, 30-16, 30-21.

The Angels will be in action Friday at noon when they take on Kentucky Christian University of Grayson, Ky., which ended the first day of play 0-2, and then will face Clearwater Christian College of Clearwater, Fla., who matched the Angels with two wins the opening day. All of this action is in Pool A.

In Pool B play, Grace University of Omaha, Neb., and Maranatha Baptist Bible College of Watertown, Wis., both ended the first day with unblemished 2-0 records.

The top two teams in each pool at the conclusion of Friday's play will enter the semifinals Saturday morning leading up to the national championship game at 3:30 Saturday afternoon.

All the matches are being played in the Laughlin Center on the campus of Lincoln Christian College. All veterans are invited to be guests for the championship game. [See article.]
