Interactive performance of 'Cast Iron Tombstone Trial' set for Vinegar Hill weekend          Send a link to a friend

[NOV. 14, 2006]  MOUNT PULASKI -- Abraham Lincoln was the defending lawyer in the original "Cast Iron Tombstone Trial" that took place in the Mount Pulaski Courthouse in the spring of 1854. There was a second such trial in Lincoln in 1857 in which Mr. Lincoln also was the defending lawyer. The sketchy information from both trials has been combined for a performance on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the courtroom at the Mount Pulaski Courthouse. A jury will be selected from the audience. The actual decision handed down will be revealed after the performance.

Come early, as seating is limited. A repeat performance may be held at 2:30, depending upon the turnout. There were three previous performances in early September at the annual Mount Pulaski Fall Festival. This occasion is during the annual Mount Pulaski "Christmas on Vinegar Hill" on Saturday and Sunday.
