[NOV. 20, 2006]  The following recalls were issued Nov. 12-16 by various federal and state agencies.

Fire extinguishers can fail to discharge

Ansul is recalling K-Guard, Sentry and Flag Fire model fire extinguishers sold nationwide from May 2003 to September 2005. If the fire extinguisher is dropped horizontally from a height of approximately two to three feet, the pickup tube could crack at the threads between the pickup tube adapter and the stainless-steel tube. If a pickup tube is cracked, the extinguisher can fail to discharge properly when activated.

The recall involves K-Guard wet chemical, Flag Fire Kitchen One wet chemical, Flag Fire water and Sentry water fire extinguishers manufactured and shipped between May 2003 and Sept. 9, 2005. A complete list of the recalled fire extinguishers is available at www.recalls.org.

Pickup tube replacements will be performed during routine annual maintenance. This work should be done only by an authorized Ansul distributor

Scrapbook accessories contain lead

Provo Craft is recalling decorative snaps and metal clips sold nationwide from August 2005 to October 2006. The recalled clips and snaps contain high levels of lead.

The recall involves the Rob and Bob Studio Clip-Ease metal clips with model numbers 28-1084, 28-1085 and 28-1086 and the Rob and Bob Studio Snap-Ease snaps with model number 28-1080.

Puzzle tables sold at Target pose choking hazard

Target is recalling Play Wonder puzzle tables sold nationwide from December 2005 to October 2006. The handles on the puzzle pieces can come off, posing a choking hazard. Also, the tips of the nails on the inside shelf of the puzzle table could be exposed, posing a laceration or puncture hazard.

This recall involves a Play Wonder brand puzzle table that contains three nine-piece wooden puzzles inside the table. The Play Wonder logo is located in the front lower right corner of the packaging. Item number 204/12/0162 is located in the front upper right corner of the packaging.

Consumers should return the table to the nearest Target store for a full refund.

Various toys sold at Target contain lead paint

Target is recalling Kool Toyz children's products sold nationwide from July to September. Some of these toys contain lead paint. Also, some of the toys have sharp points, posing laceration or puncture wound hazards.

The recall involves Kool Toyz brand toys, including sets containing die-cast cars, playground sets, dollhouse sets, dinosaurs, trucks, boats and planes. The packaging is primary blue and has the Kool Toyz logo on the upper left corner of the packaging. A complete list of the recalled toys is available at www.recalls.org.

Consumers should return the toys to the nearest Target store for a full refund.

Circuit breakers pose fire hazard

Scott Electric Co. is recalling counterfeit Square D circuit breakers sold nationwide from May 2005 to May 2006. The recalled circuit breakers labeled "Square D" are counterfeit and might not trip when they are overloaded, posing a fire hazard.

The counterfeit circuit breakers include Square D QO-series models 115, 120, 130, 160, 215, 230, 260, 1515 and 1520.

Lamps sold at Office Depot pose shock hazard

Environmental Lighting Concepts is recalling Taylor desk lamps sold nationwide at Office Depot stores from May to October. The fiberglass sheath intended to protect the electrical cord can become improperly aligned during consumer assembly of the lamp. This poses a shock hazard.

This recall involves the Taylor model burnished nickel metal desk lamp. An "O" logo is engraved on the tube cup under the rotary power switch and the name "OTT-LITE" is engraved on the front of the base. Model number 13Z63BN9 or 13T63BN9 is printed on a black label on the underside of the base.
