[OCT. 11, 2006]  Tim Huyett, Logan County state's attorney, has announced the arrests of seven suspected crack cocaine dealers. The arrest warrants were issued Oct. 4 after a Logan County grand jury considered evidence gathered by the Logan County drug suppression unit over the past several months, Huyett said.

Those arrested for crack deals are:
  • Michelle R. Guise; born Feb. 16, 1977, black female; $50,000 bond (10 percent); charged with a Class 2 felony delivery allegedly occurring on May 17.

  • Terrance E. Guise; born June 22, 1979, black male; bond $100,000 (10 percent); charged with two Class 2 felony deliveries allegedly occurring on July 12 and 13.

  • Scott A. Johnston; born Jan. 13, 1966, white male; bond $50,000 (10 percent); charged with a Class 2 felony delivery allegedly occurring on June 28.

  • Amanda B. Rogers; born Nov. 4, 1981, white female, bond $50,000 (10 percent); charged with a Class 2 felony delivery allegedly occurring on July 6.

  • Brandy J. White; born July 3, 1984, white female, bond $50,000 (10 percent); charged with a Class 2 felony delivery allegedly occurring on July 17.

  • Jessica S. Cortez; born Sept. 2, 1986, Hispanic female, bond $250,000 (10 percent); charged with a Class 1 felony delivery within 1,000 feet of public housing, allegedly occurring on June 14.

  • Kyle F. Welch; born Feb. 9, 1985, white male, bond $75,000 (10 percent); charged with a Class 1 felony delivery within 1,000 feet of a school, allegedly occurring on June 21.

Also charged:

  • Freddi J. Boling; born Sept. 1, 1950, white male, bond $50,000 (10 percent); charged with delivery of hydrocodone, commonly known as Vicodin, a Class 2 felony allegedly occurring May 19.

Huyett credited Sheriff Steve Nichols with organizing the drug suppression unit, which is comprised of members of the Logan County Sheriff's Department and the Lincoln City Police Department. "We are hopeful that these arrests will make a significant dent in crack cocaine trafficking, which has been on the rise in recent years," Huyett said.

Lincoln and Logan County have also seen firsthand the violent crime associated with crack dealers, Huyett said, pointing to an incident that occurred Sept. 4 in Lincoln in which two people were shot and wounded. "I believe it is more than coincidental that the shooting occurred at the residence of Jessica Cortez," Huyett said.
