"Scrap-In-A-Snap!" This is a
brand-new scrapbooking program offered at the Lincoln Park District.
Sue Berker, an independent demonstrator for Stampin' Up, is the
instructor. Berker, a veteran crafter, has years of experience in
card and scrapbook making. Join her Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
She will teach mother-daughter teams or any combination of two
people. The cost is $30 for the day, and most supplies will be
provided to make 10 two-page layouts. There will be door prizes
every hour and free gifts for registering another team. Registration
and payment must be received at Lincoln Park District by Oct. 21. A
supply list will be provided at the time of registration.

As fall approaches and the days become shorter, many people
are returning to the indoors for their workouts. The park district
now offers its Senior Stride and Social program all year long.
Seniors may use the indoor walking area for just $1 per visit. As
winter approaches and the program celebrates its 10th anniversary,
the park district will offer coffee, snacks and information on
health issues important to seniors. The district will also offer
three-month memberships at six different levels. Included are full
access memberships, giving use of the entire facility; circuit pass,
which allows admittance to the cardio equipment and use of the track
and court; and the entry-level membership, track and court. Full
access and circuit pass memberships include any aerobic classes for
no extra charge. Call 732-8770 for more information. In-district and
out-of-district prices are also offered at this quarterly rate.

We are just weeks away from hearing "trick or treat." Once again
the park district offers Halloween FunFest for all the area
trick-or-treaters fifth grade and under. Mark your calendars for
Oct. 30 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at 1400 Primm Road. Costumes will be
judged throughout the evening. Maple Ridge Care Centre invites you
to trick or treat with the residents from 4 to 5:30 p.m. only.
When we move our activities indoors, naturally our minds go from
football to basketball. The Junior Railers program for boys will
start registrations on Monday, Oct. 23, at the front desk. The last
day to register will be Nov. 12. Grading to place teams will take
place on Nov. 11. The season will start on Dec. 2 and run through
mid-February. Practices will be scheduled by the coaches. Fees are
$35 per player in the LCHS school district and $17.50 for each
additional player from the same family.
