Retha M. Deck

[OCT. 23, 2006]  Retha M Deck, 100, of Lincoln passed away at Maple Ridge Care Center in Lincoln at 7:31 p.m. on October 21, 2006.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 2:00 p.m. at Holland and Barry Funeral Home with Dustin Fulton of Jefferson St. Christian Church presiding. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Jefferson Street Christian Church and will be accepted at the funeral home in lieu of flowers.

Mrs. Deck was a homemaker. She was born to Waverly R. and Myrtle (Leonard) Roberts on
Sept. 9, 1906 in Alvin, IL, Vermillion County. She married Clifton H. Deck on May 5, 1929 in Alvin. He preceded her in death on March 11, 1985.

Survivors include a son James David Deck and wife Pat of Jacksonville; two daughters, Alice Parker of Aurora (Elizabethtown, IL) and Carolene Leslie and husband Jim of Lincoln; a sister Josephine Shively of Leesburg, IN; 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister Vera Chenoweth, a brother-in-law Dale Morehouse and a sister Vivian Morehouse

She attended Jefferson St. Christian Church in Lincoln and First Christian Church in Lincoln. She was a member of the 50 Plus club at Jefferson Street Christian Church and was former member of the Home Bureau.
