Illinois Raptor Center offering second camp for adults

[SEPT. 2, 2006]  DECATUR -- Because of the overwhelming response to the first Raptor Camp for Adults, the Illinois Raptor Center is offering a second camp starting Sept. 10.

Raptor Camp for Adults, for age 18 and older, consists of four camp sessions on consecutive Sunday afternoons.

• Dates: Sept. 10, 17, 24 and Oct. 1.

• Time: 1:30-4 p.m.

Campers will be introduced to four different families of raptors -- hawks, falcons, owls and eagles -- through hands-on encounters. Sessions will include identification, natural history, predation, mortality, populations, intelligence, instincts, habitat, rehabilitation, falconry, raptor equipment and handling.

The fee for the four sessions is $80, which includes a certificate of completion.
