[SEPT. 28, 2006]  BLOOMINGTON -- Cast members from "Break! The Urban Funk Spectacular" will lead a hip-hop master class for Illinois State University dance students on Friday at 10:30 a.m. The class will take place at ISU's McCormick Hall, located near the corner of University and Dry Grove streets in Normal. The class is open to members of the community who wish to watch or participate.

Dancers will be teaching hip-hop steps and techniques, including the break dance steps used in the show.

Another break dance demonstration will take place from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday in front of the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts. The demonstration will be presented by local break dancers, led by local hip-hop promoter and dancer Eric Dix, aka DJ Vamp.

"We're very excited about the performances of ‘Break,'" says Dix. "A number of our dancers know members of the ‘Break' cast and have danced with them in the past. We're supportive of the work these dancers are doing, and we also want to make more people aware of the strong hip-hop dance community that exists in Illinois."

Dix will also lead a pre-show discussion at 6:30 p.m. in the BCPA ballroom for ticket holders to Thursday night's show.
