War era singing group to perform at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential

SPRINGFIELD -- On Saturday, The Company
Singers, a Civil War era singing group, will perform in the plaza of
the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum. Performances are scheduled
for 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m.

The Company Singers is made up of members of the Sons of Union
Veterans of the Civil War from Huntington, Ind. Singing well-known
songs of the Civil War such as "Battle Cry of Freedom" and "Battle
Hymn of the Republic," the group also performs some little-known
songs of the time period, such as "The Glendy Burke," "Springfield
Fair" and "The Mermaid." The Company Singers group was formed five
years ago and has since performed at Civil War re-enactments around
the country. Paid admission into the presidential museum is
required.
