Correction to fatal accident report          Send a link to a friend

[April 13, 2007]  LDN reported yesterday about a vehicle accident that led to the death of Angela M Gill. In the article it said the accident "was not discovered immediately." Additional information has come to LDN that this accident was immediately discovered.

There were different times on written reports received from the Illinois State Police. The first said the accident was at 7:45 p.m. A correction was sent later saying it occurred at 7:10 p.m. and finally 7:15 p.m.

A reader who wished to remain anonymous actually heard the crash and called 911 immediately. She said the time was close to 7:14 p.m. She also said that two different drivers stopped within less than a minute of the crash when they came upon it. The emergency teams were there within five to six minutes of the crash.

She wanted family and friends to know this and added that the emergency response was as immediate as it possibly could have been.

Our apologies for the misinformation and any added grief that this may have caused family and friends.
