[April 18, 2007]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Extension to sponsor bingo

The Logan County Extension Unit will sponsor the bingo games that begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at The Oasis. Come join the fun and win food prizes!

Alzheimer support group to meet

The Alzheimer support group will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday in the senior center's library. No reservation is necessary. The group provides support and information for caregivers and extended family and is facilitated by a coordinator from Maple Ridge Care Centre.

Board meeting is open to public

The April meeting of The Oasis board is open to the public and is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Thursday. To schedule anything on the agenda, the board must receive notification in writing on or before the fifth day of the month prior to a meeting date.

Memories class

The monthly Memories class is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. Friday in the senior center's library. No reservation is necessary. Participants are asked to bring their own pen and paper to learn skills needed to preserve memories for families and friends.

Food distribution

The Self Help and Resource Exchange Program distribution date is Friday between 4 and 5:30 p.m. at the senior center. SHARE is an outreach program sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Peoria. For more details, you may call 732-6132.

Bunco

The bunco games will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at the senior center. Bring a friend and come for a day of fun! Refreshments will be provided by Marilyn Armburst from Regions Bank. Last month's winner was Eleanor Barton.

Tuesday lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for April 24 features cream soup, tuna stuffed tomatoes, crackers, dessert and a drink for $3.75, or $3.25 if you stay and play cards. Reservation deadline is noon Monday.

Seventh annual auction

The seventh annual auction fundraiser for The Oasis will be April 29 at the White Auction House. If you would like to donate any gently used items, including computers, furniture, chairs, table, books and much more, the senior center will accept donations beginning Monday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you have any questions, please call 732-6132.

Winners for the week announced

Mable Hoagland won the weekday pinochle card game. Larry Van Bibber and Marjorie were the weekend winners for pinochle. Ella Lee Graney and Dorothy Oltmanns won five-in one. Congratulations!
