[April 18, 2007]  The following recalls were issued April 1-5 by various federal and state agencies.

FOOT WARMERS CAN OVERHEAT

Mastex Industries LLC, of Petersburg, Va., is recalling Twin Foot Warmers sold nationwide from September 2006 to October 2006. The wiring in the foot warmer has a defect which can cause it to overheat.

The recall includes model 400 twin foot warmers with date code FO4. The date code is located on the switch, and the model number is written on the blanket. Model 405 full-size foot warmers are not included in the recall.

CHILDREN'S BRACELETS CONTAIN LEAD

A&A Global Industries, of Cockeysville, Md., is recalling Children's "Groovy Grabber" Bracelets sold nationwide from November 2005 to March 2007. The paint on the metallic band beneath the decorative cover contains high levels of lead.

The recalled bracelets are made of flexible metal bands wrapped in decorative plastic covers. The bracelets come in various colors and designs, including smiley faces, Chinese symbols, dogs, cats, aliens, checkerboards and flames.

Consumers should immediately take the recalled bracelets away from children and discard them.

KEY CHAINS SOLD BY DOLLAR GENERAL CONTAIN LEAD

Dollar General Merchandising, Inc., of Goodlettsville, Tenn., is recalling Metal Key Chains sold nationwide at Dollar General Stores from December 2005 to January 2007. The key chains contain high levels of lead.

This recall involves three styles of metal key chains, including a flip-flop design, dangling charms and a letter. The words "KeyChain" and "Dollar General $1.25" are printed on the front of the packaging for each style.

Consumers should return the key chains to the store where purchased for a refund or replacement product.

POOL LADDERS CAN BREAK

Intex Recreation Corp., of Long Beach, Calif., is recalling "Intex®," "Easy Set®" and "Sand N Sun™" Aboveground Pool Ladders sold nationwide from February 2006 to February 2007. The ladder's plastic steps can be assembled backward on the support brackets. If this happens, the ladder steps can break and the user can fall.

The recall includes 42-inch, 48-inch and 52-inch A-frame pool ladders. The ladders were sold with above-ground pools with the brand names "Intex®," "Easy Set®" and "Sand N Sun™.

BABY DOLLS SOLD AT DOLLAR STORES POSE CHOKING HAZARD

OKK Trading Inc of Commerce, Calif., is recalling "Lovely Baby" and "Happy Baby" dolls sold nationwide at Dollar stores from September 2006 to October 2006. These dolls contain small parts, which can pose a choking hazard.

This recall involves the "Lovely Baby" and "Happy Baby" plastic dolls. The dolls come in different sizes, ranging from 6 to 11 inches tall. The packaging is a clear plastic bag sealed at the top with a cardboard label with the name "Lovely Baby" or "Happy Baby" printed on it.

Consumers should return the doll to the store where purchased for a refund.

TARGET RECALLS ACTIVITY CART TOYS

Target, of Minneapolis, Minn., is recalling Little Tree Wood Activity Cart Toys sold at Target stores from July 2006 to March 2007. The orange hubcaps on the wheel of the cart can detach, posing a choking hazard.

The recall involves Little Tree wooden activity cart toys. This is a multicolored cart with an orange seat and a wooden tray. The cart has apple trees, a blue fence, and red, blue and green flowers painted on one side. The cart also has a wooden sheep, dog and horse affixed to that same side. The other side of the cart contains a board with multicolored wooden magnets.

DOG BISCUITS

Sunshine Mills Inc. ("Sunshine"), a branded and private-label pet food manufacturer based in Red Bay, Ala., is recalling a portion of its branded dog biscuits made at its Red Bay biscuit plant during part of March 2007. These brands include Nurture Chicken & Rice, Nurture Lamb & Rice, Pet Life Large, Pet Life Extra Large, Pet Life Large Variety, Pet Life Large Peanut Butter, Lassie Lamb and Rice, and Pet Life People Pleasers Dog Treats. Private-label biscuits for six of Sunshine's customers were also affected. A complete list of affected biscuit brands, sizes and codes is available below or at www.sunshinemills.com. Sunshine's other biscuit brands and products that include small and medium-sized biscuits were not affected. It is also important to note that dry dog and cat food and soft and chewy treats for dogs or cats manufactured by Sunshine are not affected and not included in this recall. The recalled dog biscuits are marketed nationwide by many pet food retailers, including the mass channel, traditional grocery and pet specialty stores. The recalled dog biscuits contain 1 percent or less by weight of wheat gluten. Consumers should immediately stop feeding their dog the dog biscuits with the specified date codes and consult with a veterinarian if they have any health concerns with their dog. CHANUKAH CANDLES POSE FIRE HAZARD

Ahron's Judaica of Brooklyn, N.Y., is recalling Chanukah Oil Candles sold nationwide from November 2006 to December 2006. The oil candles can become engulfed in flames and melt the plastic cups holding the candles in place, allowing hot wax to leak out, which poses fire and burn hazards to consumers.

This recall involves both the 44-count and the 36-count of Chanukah Oil Candles. The packaging is a red box with the following printed on it: "Chanukah Oil Candles With Jelled Extra Virgin Olive Oil" and "Distributed by Ahron's Judaica Item # OCCL-25/44."

BOILERS POSE CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING

NY Thermal Inc. of Sussex, New Brunswick, Canada, is recalling NTI Trinity Gas-Fired Hot Water Boilers sold nationwide from November 2005 to February 2007. Acidic liquid in a drain line can cause a fitting in the boiler to leak, posing a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning to consumers.

The recall includes NTI Trinity gas-fired hot water boilers with model numbers Ti100, Ti150, Ti200 and Ti400. The boilers were manufactured between Nov. 28, 2005, and Jan. 8, 2007. The boilers are gray in color and "NTI" appears on the front cover. The model number and date of manufacture are located on the ID label inside the front cover of the boiler.

DISNEY EASTER BASKETS SOLD AT WAL-MART STORES

Gemmy Industries Corp. of Coppell, Texas, is recalling Disney Princesses Easter Baskets sold nationwide at Wal-Mart stores from February 2007 to March 2007. Silver beads and ribbons attached to the basket can detach, posing a choking hazard.

The product is a pink and purple plush Easter basket decorated with silver beads and ribbons. "Disney Princesses" is written on top of the basket. Pictures of the princesses are on the front of the basket.

Consumers should remove the beads and ribbons to prevent the choking hazard. Consumers also can return the item to the nearest Wal-Mart store for a full refund.
