You might have seen Dan Hemenway,
Lincoln College athletic director, running up and down Woodlawn Road
during the past year. The hard work paid off last weekend, when he
completed the 26-mile
Spirit of St. Louis Marathon in four hours and 20 minutes.

Hemenway said he was happy with the results. "It was good, and what
an unbelievable experience," he said. "The atmosphere was very
supportive, and I felt humbled by complete strangers cheering every
runner on. I would advise for any runner to go out there and
experience a marathon because it truly is phenomenal." This was
his Hemenway's first marathon race, and he placed 124th in his age
bracket. Hemenway said the course had more contours than where he
trained.
"I would like to thank my children, Daniel and Grace, and my
parents and sister, who cheered me on during the race, as well as
the many people from Lincoln who supported from afar," he said.
Hemenway started training in December for the April event.
