Downtown Lincoln prepares for blooming season          Send a link to a friend

[April 30, 2007]  The Master Gardeners will be exercising their green thumbs in downtown Lincoln. On May 7 at 10 a.m. the gardeners will lead Main Street Lincoln volunteers in summer flower planting work.

The work that day will focus on planting an abundance of whiskey barrels that have been donated by the Lincoln Rotary and State Bank of Lincoln. The barrels will be located throughout the downtown area, most near benches and at corners.

The dirt turners will also be planting the flower beds at the Main Street office in preparation for an open house.

On May 12 Main Street is hosting its first Historic City Building Walk.

"It should be fun seeing all of us dirty," Main Street organizers said, and they extend the invitation to anyone to come, bring gloves and pitch in.
