[April 30, 2007]  The following recalls were issued April 22-26 by various federal and state agencies.

BODY WASH MAY CONTAIN BACTERIA

Vi-Jon, Inc. issued a recall of a single lot of 28 fluid ounce bottles of Alpine Xtreme Evergreen Forest Body Wash after determining the presence of a bacteria, Enterobacter gergoviae, in some of the product samples tested.

The only affected product is Alpine Xtreme Evergreen Forest Body Wash, which is green in color. The lot code involved in this recall is 286071, identified by the first six numbers printed on the back of the bottle between the pump and the top of the back label. The recall does not affect any other Alpine Xtreme Body Wash product.

Consumers should discontinue using and properly discard the product, and may obtain a full refund by calling 1-888-593-0593 and mailing in the back label, including the UPC code. Additional information can be found at the product website, www.alpinextreme.net. More info at www.recalls.org.

BOOMBOXES CAN OVERHEAT

Coby Electronics Corp. is recalling Coby-Brand USB/MP3/CD Boomboxes sold nationwide from August 2006 to December 2006. When left plugged into an electrical outlet and the off switch is not firmly in place, these boomboxes can overheat, posing a fire hazard.

The recalled Coby boombox is a portable CD/MP3 player with an AM/FM radio. The USB feature allows it to be connected to a computer. The word "COBY" is written on the front and "DIGITAL" is written on the top. The model number "MP-CD475" also is written on the top. The recalled units have serial numbers, located on the rear of the unit beneath the AC power cord plug-in outlet, in the following range limits: 0736000001 through 0736005000 0816000001 through 0816005300 0826000001 through 0826003500.

ACER NOTEBOOK BATTERIES CAN OVERHEAT

Acer America Corporation is recalling rechargeable lithium-ion batteries containing Sony-made cells used in Acer notebook computers sold nationwide from May 2004 to November 2006. The lithium-ion batteries can overheat, posing a fire hazard to consumers.

ELECTRIC HEATERS CAN OVERHEAT

The Holmes Group is recalling HolmesŪ Oil-Filled Electric Heaters sold nationwide from September 2005 to February 2007. A poor electrical connection within the heater can lead to overheating. This poses fire and thermal burn hazards.

The recall involves Holmes oil-filled electric heaters with model number HOH2505 and HOH2520. The model number and "HolmesŪ" are printed on the side of the unit near the bottom.

LIGHTED PALM TREES CAN OVERHEAT

iObjectSolutions Inc. is recalling Pre-Lit Palm Trees sold nationwide from August 2006 to May 2007. If the electrical connectors are not fully inserted, they can overheat and pose electric shock and fire hazards.

The recall involves four sizes of Pre-Lit Palm Trees. There is a 7-foot Lighted Palm and a 7-foot Lighted Palm Tree with Coconuts, a 5-foot Lighted Palm Tree with Coconuts, a 4.5-foot Lighted Palm Tree, and a 2.5-foot Lighted Palm Tree. These palm trees are lit by rope lights. The tree trunks have golden-colored rope wrapped in a spiral. The palm leaves are lined along the edge with green rope lights.

SNOWMOBILES' JOINTS CAN SEPARATE

Polaris Industries Inc. is recalling Model Year 2006 FS Classic, FS Touring, FST Classic, FST Touring and FST Switchback Snowmobiles sold nationwide from February 2005 to March 2007. The right and left front suspension shock towers can separate due to inadequate welding during the manufacturing process. Separation of the welded joints can result in stiffer steering or the shock mount failing suddenly, causing the rider to lose control of the snowmobile and crash.

Only 2006 model year Polaris snowmobiles are part of this recall. The model and serial number identification decal is located on the right side of the tunnel underneath the seat. The recalled model names and numbers are listed below.
