[August 03, 2007]  (AP) Thunderstorms were forecast Friday throughout the Southwest and into the Rockies as southerly winds continue to pump abundant moisture into the region.

In the northern Plains, more rain was likely as a weak area of low pressure glides across the nation's corn belt.

On the Gulf Coast, showers and thunderstorms were expected.

Another day of warm temperatures was forecast for the East, though a cooling trough approaching from the west was expected to bring welcome relief from the heat late in the day.

Temperatures in the lower 48 states Thursday ranged from a low of 37 degrees at Stanley, Idaho, to a high of 115 degrees at Death Valley, Calif.
