Scrambles: calf roping

It took courage for these contestants to step into the ring to face the calves in the final scramble contest.

 

The oldest of the scramblers, being the most experienced and willful, made short work of their task.

Herding was the most important technique the scrambles used, here assisted by the handlers.
 
 

The calves exhibited some technique themselves, like the brown one here running over the contestant's head.

It isn't over till the rope is around the calf's neck.
