I am pleased to announce that today I
have picked up petitions to file as a candidate for the nomination
of the Republican Party in the primary election for the office of
Logan County State's Attorney.
I am currently a member of the
Logan County Board. Other than for breaks to go to college, I have
been a dedicated public servant all of my adult life. I plan to
continue serving the public as Logan County State's Attorney.
I am a family man. I have been
married to Penny McIntosh for more than 20 years. Penny is a
registered nurse. She works at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in
the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Unit. We have three children. The
eldest is going to the University of Illinois at Springfield. Our
sons are going to be going to Lincoln Community High School this
year. We are members of the Christian Church. I am a deacon at
Jefferson Street Christian Church. My wife & our sons are members of
that Church. Our daughter is a member of Lincoln Christian Church.
I enlisted in the United States
Marine Corps right out of high school. I was a guided missile
technician. I served for four years and attained the rank of
Sergeant (E-5). In my last assignment in the Corps, I was Chief
T.O.W. Missile Technician, First Anti-Tank T.O.W. Company, First
Tank Battalion, First Marine Division. I was honorably discharged
and then went to college on the GI Bill. I earned a Bachelor's
degree (B.A.) in philosophy from Olivet Nazarene College. I worked
briefly as a social worker and then applied to be a trooper with the
Illinois State Police.

Upon graduation from the Illinois
State Police Academy, I was assigned to the North Tri-state Tollway
near Chicago. I took a leave of absence from the state police to
attend law school at Northern Illinois University. Upon completion
of my Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree, I returned to the state police and
upon passing the bar exam, was assigned to the department's legal
office as an attorney. While in the legal office, I earned a Master
of Laws degree (LL.M.) in information technology from The John
Marshall Law School.
I left the state police's legal
office, as a lieutenant, to go to the Illinois State Police's
Medicaid Fraud Control Bureau. For three and one half years, I
supervised a platoon of criminal investigators (approximately 40
investigators and support personnel). This bureau's investigations
generally involved white-collar crimes and alleged abuse of patients
in long-term care facilities. I was reassigned to work in the
headquarters of the Division of Operations of the Illinois State
Police as the operation's legal advisor.
I would like to improve the
intergovernmental cooperation among the various agencies in Logan
County. I am a strong believer in the rule of law. I have a proven
track record for personal integrity. I am well-trained and have a
great deal of experience in the criminal justice system including
previous experience prosecuting criminal cases.
Thank you,
Michael D. McIntosh
