New souped-up computer donated to library for youth use           Send a link to a friend

[August 20, 2007]  Through a generous donation from the Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation, Lincoln Public Library District is excited to announce a new high-speed, multimedia computer available for use in the Youth Services Department. Christened "Weyerhaeuser Literature Connection," the station is designed for youth ages 8-15 who are able to read well and negotiate software directions independently. Since the computer is not Internet-connected, a parental permission card is not needed to use this computer.

The station is loaded with literature-based software. Some of the available programs will be "Harry Potter," "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," "I Spy" and "Nancy Drew." All software will be related to printed material to give it a literature connection.

Youth may use the new station on the usual library sign-up and policy basis whenever the library is open for business. For more information, please call the Lincoln Public Library District Youth Services Department at 732-5732.
