Artisans demonstrate 19th-century trades at Postville

[August 24, 2007]  Midwest artisans will demonstrate a variety of 19th-century trades at this weekend's 1840s Craft Fair at Postville Courthouse State Historic Site, 914 Fifth St.

Demonstrations include blacksmithing, coopering, chair making, wood carving, wool dyeing, candle dipping, broom making, quilting, paper marbling, wagon wheel weaving, rope making, chair caning and bobbin lace making. Some of the items will be for sale.

An Abraham Lincoln impersonator will greet visitors.

Live period music will be performed throughout the day by several groups.
