[August 24, 2007]  SPRINGFIELD -- Emergency responders were called to the scene of a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 55 south of Broadwell at 9:29 a.m. Thursday.

Robert C. Hebert, 57, of Chippewa Falls, Wis., was driving a 2007 International tractor-trailer in the center lane northbound. A second unknown semi made a sudden lane change into the path of Hebert's vehicle. In order to avoid the second semi, Hebert swerved to the left and the semi overturned before entering the median. Hebert's vehicle came to rest blocking the southbound lanes of I-55.

The load Hebert was carrying was rolls of aluminum, which came out of the trailer.

The roadway was closed while Hebert was extricated and spilled oil was cleaned up.

The Illinois Department of Transportation, Logan County Sheriff's Office and Lincoln Rural Fire Department assisted with traffic control and cleanup.
