45 grams of cocaine seized during traffic stop

[August 29, 2007]  SPRINGFIELD -- On Sunday at 11:55 p.m., an Illinois state trooper initiated a traffic stop for a minor traffic violation on Illinois Route 4 at Iles Avenue. The driver was Kenneth J. Jackson Jr., 22, of Springfield.

The trooper asked for and received consent to search the vehicle. While the search was being conducted, the trooper discovered 45 grams of cocaine.

Jackson was placed under arrest and remanded to the Sangamon County Jail. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

The public is reminded that anyone is presumed innocent until the charges are proven in a court of law.
