Lincoln Community High School Speech Team Wins Bloomington Tournament

[December 03, 2007]  BLOOMINGTON -- The Lincoln Community High School speech team won the 11-team Bloomington High School Speech Tournament.

The varsity team had five varsity champions, led by the double wins of Cameron Kurtz in impromptu and extemporaneous, Annie Sheley in radio speaking, Cody Follis and Kaylyn Engelhardt in dramatic duet, and Cody Follis in prose reading.

Other varsity finalists were Rebecca Kasa and Lorenda Kirby, third in dramatic duet; Janel Filbeck, second in oratory and declamation; Haley Adams-Huhyn, sixth in oratory; Emily Harms, sixth in original comedy; Taylor Muck and Stephanie Holford, second in humorous duet acting; and Todd Schumacher, third in dramatic interpretation and in original comedy. Also, Stephanie Holford was fourth, Hailey Cooper fifth and Lorenda Kirby sixth in humorous interpretation. Jairris Vermeire was third in prose; Annie Sheley, second, and Raeann Sheley, fourth, in special occasion; and Taylor Muck, third, and Katy Langdon, sixth, in verse reading.

Novice finalists were Katy Langdon, second in dramatic interpretation; Abby Parmenter, fourth in special occasion; Emily Harms and Trevor Arrington, third in humorous duet; and Trevor Arrington, fourth in extemporaneous.
