[December 03, 2007]  The following recalls were issued by various federal and state agencies during the week ending Dec. 1:

MITER SAWS

WMH Tool Group is recalling Performax and Wilton 10" Sliding Miter Saws sold nationwide from August 2006 to March 2007. The saw handle's switch can fail, causing the saw to smoke, spark, and trip circuit breakers, and disable the safety brake. The saw also can keep operating unless the unit is unplugged, posing a laceration hazard to consumers. 

The recall includes Performax model number 90206 and Wilton model number 34570 10-inch sliding miter saws with date code/serial numbers ranging from W062505 to W070405. The model, date code/serial numbers are printed on a black label on the motor housing of the saw. 

Consumers should call WMH at (800) 689-9928 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. ET Monday through Friday to receive a replacement miter saw or a full refund or visit

BON-TON CHILDREN'S SWEATSHIRTS 

The Bon-Ton Department Stores Inc. is recalling children's fleece hooded zip-up jackets with neck drawstrings sold in the Detroit area from August 2007 to October 2007. The garments have a drawstring through the hood, which can pose a strangulation hazard to children.  

The recalled hooded zip-up sweatshirts are for Boys 8-20 and were made under the "Burnside" brand. The sweatshirts came in boys' sizes small, medium, large and X-large and have various designs on the front. The recalled models have "RN # 39209" printed on the tag. 

Consumers should immediately remove the drawstrings from the sweatshirts to eliminate the hazard or return the garment for a refund.

MEIJER FIREPITS 

Meijer Inc. is recalling Grand Gourmet Firepits sold in Michigan. Ohio, Illinois, Indiana from September 2004 to August 2007. The legs of the firepit can bend or snap off during use, causing the firepit to tip over and in turn the fire can escape. This poses a fire hazard. 

This recall involves the Grand Gourmet metal wood-burning firepits model FSQ279. It measures 27 inches wide by 27 inches deep by 25 1/2 inches high. The model number can be found on the cover page of the product manual. 

Consumers should return the firepits to the nearest Meijer retailer for a full refund.

PITCHBACKS SOLD AT DICK'S SPORTING GOODS 

Dick's Sporting Goods is recalling "Power Bolt" Y-Frame and Ultimate Y-Frame Adjustable Pitchbacks sold nationwide From November 2002 to July 2007. The upper portion of the frame can collapse after both locking pins are removed, posing a laceration hazard. 

This recall involves the Power Bolt Y-Frame Pitchback and Y-Frame Ultimate Pitchback. The products' Y-shaped metal frames have attached netting which will return a thrown ball to the user. The upper portion of the frame is adjustable to allow a variety of rebound angles.

HOLIDAY ORNAMENTS 

Reeves International Inc. is recalling 2006 Snow Princess Stirrup Ornaments, 2007 Holiday Stirrup Ornaments, 2007 Photo Frame Horse Shoe Ornaments sold nationwide from July 2006 to October 2007. Surface paints on the ornaments contain high levels of lead. 

The 2006 Snow Princess Stirrup Ornament is a stirrup-shaped ornament with a white prancing horse and blue ribbons. "2006" is stamped on the rim of the ornament. The 2007 Wintersong Stirrup Ornament is a stirrup-shaped ornament with a grey horse with saddle bags with a horn and a violin. "2007" is stamped on the rim of the ornament. The 2007 Photo Frame Horse Shoe Ornament is a horse shoe shaped ornament with a brown horse with rider jumping over a gate. "Happy Holiday 2007" is printed on the back of the ornament.

LOUNGE CHAIRS SOLD AT DICK'S SPORTING GOODS 

Dick's Sporting Goods is recalling Lounge Chairs and Recliners sold at their stores from February 2006 to August 2007. The plastic support brackets can break and cause the chairs to collapse. 

This recall involves the Lazy Lounger chair (Style # CEH00415), recliner (Style # CEH00320) and oversize recliner (Style # CEH00414, CEH00345, and CEH00443). Style numbers are printed on the packaging. Beneath the padded headrest are two tags. The first reads: "! WARNING !", followed by 9 numbered statements, and "Made in China". The second is the "Do Not Remove Under Penalty of Law" tag and includes the manufacturer's Registration No: OHIO36462HK.

AMERICAN GREETINGS CONFETTI BURSTS 

American Greetings Corp. is recalling DesignWare® Confetti Bursts sold nationwide from December 2003 to September 2007. The surface paint on the individual bags of confetti contains excessive levels of lead. 

The recalled products contain confetti in plastic bags. When the bags are inflated, consumers squeeze the bag and confetti bursts out. Each package contains six confetti bursts.
