Mildred Ackerson

[December 05, 2007]  Mildred M. Ackerson, 95, of Lincoln died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at 9:09 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Ron Otto officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Lawndale Cemetery, Lawndale.

Mrs. Ackerson worked in the dietary department at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital and retired from Lincoln Developmental Center after 20 years as a mental health technician.

She was born April 2, 1912, at Lawndale to John and Cleo Wise Purlee. She married Carl F. Ackerson on June 7, 1930, in Lincoln. He preceded her in death Nov. 14, 1989.

She is survived by one daughter, Sandra (and Denny) Freeman of Lincoln; one son, Robert (and Venita) Ackerson of Lincoln; one sister, Esther (and Phil) Martin of Heyworth; one brother, Ernest (and Phyllis) Purlee of Lawndale; nine grandchildren, Robert (and Paula) Kodatt, Steven Kodatt, Michael (and Brenda) Kodatt, Veronica (and Doug) Hanlen, Marty Freeman, Gayle Freeman, Robert Ackerson Jr., Joe Ackerson and Jayne Ackerson; 14 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

She was a member of Lincoln Christian Church.

She was lovingly cared for the past several years by a special granddaughter and great-granddaughter, Veronica Hanlen and Kristina Rhoades.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
