The woman was driving a black 2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer southbound
on Route 121, west of Fourth Street in Latham, at 1:52 p.m.
The vehicle left the south side of the roadway and began to spin
counterclockwise. It struck a signpost before striking a concrete
culvert with the front passenger side tire. The vehicle then began
to overturn, rolling 2 1/2 times before coming to rest.
The driver was ejected from the vehicle.
She was transported to Decatur Memorial Hospital with
life-threatening injuries. She died shortly after arriving at the
hospital.
The Illinois State Police are investigating the crash. Assisting
at scene were the Logan County Sheriff's Department, Logan County
EMS and Mount Pulaski Rescue.
