[December 06, 2007]  A quick-moving upper-level system will bring another round of snow and possibly sleet to the area late Thursday afternoon and Thursday night. Moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will interact with this upper-level system to produce periods of light to moderate snow across the area. Most of the area will receive 2 to 4 inches of snow by Friday morning. Areas along and south of Interstate 70 will see a mix of snow and sleet due to slightly warmer temperatures in the lower levels.

A snow advisory remains in effect from 6 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday for the counties of McLean, Logan, DeWitt, Piatt, Champaign, Vermilion, Sangamon, Christian, Macon, Moultrie, Douglas, Coles, Edgar, Shelby, Cumberland and Clark, including the cities of Bloomington, Normal, Lincoln, Champaign, Urbana, Danville, Springfield, Taylorville, Decatur, Charleston, Mattoon and Shelbyville.

Snow will begin across central and east-central Illinois around 6 p.m. Thursday. Periods of light to moderate snow are expected to occur throughout the night. Total accumulations of 2 to 4 inches are expected by the time the snow tapers off Friday morning.

A snow advisory means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibility, and use caution while driving.
