Below freezing temperatures at
the surface in combination with warm, moist air pushing in from the
south will result in sleet and freezing rain across the central
portions of the state Saturday night and into Sunday. Areas slated
to see significant ice accumulation Saturday evening through Sunday
evening are between interstates 72 and 74. |
The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a winter storm
watch in effect from Saturday evening through Sunday afternoon for
the counties of Knox, Stark, Peoria, Marshall, Woodford, Fulton,
Tazewell, McLean, Schuyler, Mason, Logan, DeWitt, Piatt, Cass,
Menard, Scott, Morgan, Sangamon and Macon, including the cities of
Galesburg, Peoria, Bloomington, Normal, Havana, Lincoln,
Jacksonville, Springfield and Decatur. A winter storm watch means
there is a potential for significant snow, sleet or ice
accumulations that may affect travel. Continue to monitor the latest
forecasts.
