[December 17, 2007]  The following recalls were issued by various federal and state agencies during the week ending Dec. 15: 

QVC TOASTERS 

QVC Inc. is recalling Cook's Essential Electric Toasters sold by QVC from May 2000 to May 2003. The toaster can turn on without bread in the slots and ignite items placed on top of it, posing a fire hazard. 

This recall involves the "Cook's Essential" chrome two-slice electric toasters model CT200. Each toaster has "Cook's Essentials" and "Model: CT200" printed on a plate located on the underside of the toaster.

HAIRSTYLING IRONS 

Farouk Systems Inc. is recalling WEE CHI Ceramic Hairstyling Irons sold nationwide from April 2006 to September 2007. The iron's "on/off" switch was installed incorrectly. When the iron is plugged in and switch is in the "off" position, the iron remains "on," which could pose fire and burn hazards. 

The recalled hairstyling iron is black and measures 9.5 inches long. "CHI" is printed on the iron in red lettering. Date code 0306 or 0507 is embossed on the inside of the paddle.

AT HOME AMERICA CANDLES 

AtHome America Inc. is recalling Four-wick Decorative Candles sold nationwide from August 2007 to October 2007. The candle's wicks are in close proximity causing the candle to burn unevenly and faster than expected, posing a potential fire hazard. 

The recall involves four-inch, square-shaped candles with four wicks. The candles were sold in three styles: the Earth Hue Toasted Nutmeg and Spice candle, the Holiday Hue candle, and the Golden Metallic candle.

TV STANDS

Sauder Woodworking Co. is recalling TV Stands sold nationwide during August 2007.  The plastic feet of the TV stand can crack or break. The stability of the stand can be reduced, increasing the risk of a TV tipping-over. 

The recalled TV Stand measures 23 inches (h) x 43 1/4 inches (w) x 17 1/2 inches (d) with a brushed maple finish. The model number (402806) and UPC (0004266643392) are located on the product's carton and instructions.

AIR HOCKEY TABLES 

Gamenamics Inc. is recalling Cordless Air-Powered Hockey Tables with Rechargeable Battery sold nationwide from August 2006 to July 2007. The hockey table's wires can overheat or melt, posing a burn hazard. 

The tables are 72-inches long and 38-inches wide and have a predominantly white surface with a bright blue aluminum rail and can be folded and moved on attached wheels. The playing surface contains the words "Jet Fan Hockey". The recalled items have the numbers SG-504-6c and 73058 printed on the product's carton.

ELLIPTICAL TRAINERS 

Fitness Quest Inc. is recalling EclipseŽ 1175e Elliptical Trainers sold nationwide from September 2006 to October 2007. The cranks that connect the foot platforms to the rear wheel of the machine can break during exercise, posing a fall hazard. 

This recall involves the EclipseŽ 1175e elliptical trainers. The machine has two foot platforms attached to a wheel at the rear of the machine. Each machine has "1175e" stamped on an oval decal located on the side of the wheel housing.

SCUBA REGULATORS 

ROMI Enterprises is recalling Oceanic and AERIS SCUBA Regulator First Stages sold nationwide from May 2007 and October 2007. An internal component that seals air between the high pressure first-stage and the intermediate pressure second-stage can fail. This can result in uncontrolled flow of air to the diver and pose a risk of serious injury or death.

OUTDOOR VACUUMS 

Billy Goat Industries Inc. is recalling Billy Goat MultiVac Outdoor Vacuums sold nationwide from June 2007 to November 2007. The vacuum's fuel tank could crack and leak fuel. If gasoline leaking from the fuel tank is ignited, a fire or explosion can occur. This poses a fire and burn hazard. 

The recalled outdoor vacuum is black and green with a red motor housing. "Billy Goat" is printed on the vacuum's bag. A list of the models and serial numbers can be found at www.recalls.org.  

Consumers should contact any Billy Goat or Honda Lawn and Garden dealer for a free fuel tank replacement.

HORSESHOE MAGNETS 

United Scientific is recalling Horseshoe Magnets sold nationwide from March 1995 to September 2007. Surface paint on the magnets contains high levels of lead 

This recall involves horseshoe-shaped magnets sold in five sizes. The horseshoes have red paint on the surface of the magnet. Product numbers included in the recall are: SHM020 (two inch), SHM030 (three inch), SHM040 (four inch), SHM050 (five inch), and SHM060 (six inch).

FISHING GAMES SOLD AT GROCERY STORES

Far East Brokers and Consultants Inc. is recalling Fishing Games sold nationwide from October 2007 to November 2007.  The recalled game has parts that contain excessive levels of lead. 

The recalled Fishing Game contains a fishing pole, one large battery operated fish, and three small wind-up fish. The UPC #011546208270 and product #25741 are printed on the product's packaging. 

Consumers should return the game to the store where purchased for a full refund.

WATER GLOBES SOLD AT JO-ANN STORES 

Jo-Ann Stores Inc. is recalling Children's Robbie Ducky Holiday Water Globes sold exclusively at Jo-Ann Stores in November 2007. The painted base of the water globes contains excessive levels of lead. 

The recalled Robbie Ducky water globe is about 1-1/2 inches in diameter and sits on a 1-1/2 by 1-1/2 inch square base. There are four different globe designs including: Robbie Ducky on a red base, a reindeer on a green base, a penguin on a green base and a polar bear on a red base. "Holiday Inspirations Water Globe" is printed on the bottom of the globes. 

Consumers should return the water globes to any Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft store for a full refund.

TOYS SOLD BY VARIOUS DOLLAR STORES 

Dollar Tree Stores is recalling Baby Toys Baby Bead & Wire Toys and Speed Racer Pull Back & Go Action! Cars sold nationwide from March 2007 to November 2007. The recalled toys contain excessive levels of lead. 

The Baby Bead & Wire Toys are colored wires and colored beads that can slide on a natural wood platform. These bead toys have item number 903419 and date code 71 printed on the back of the packaging. The Speed Racer Pull Back & Go Action! Cars are yellow with black stripes and white with red stripes. Item number 873820 and date code 77 is printed on the back of the packaging. 

Consumers should return the toys to the store where purchased for a refund.

INFANT TEETHERS 

InfantinoŽ LLC is recallikng InfantinoŽ Lion Teethers sold nationwide from June 2006 to December 2007. The plastic nose can detach, posing a choking hazard. 

This recall involves InfantinoŽ lion teethers. The yellow and orange plastic teethers have date codes 6116, 6129, 6158, 6137, 0606, 0806, 0906, and 1006. The date codes are located on the back of the lion's head, above the InfantinoŽ logo

CHILDREN'S JEWELRY 

Codee International Corp. is recalling Codeena Princess Children's Metal Jewlery sold nationwide from September 2005 to August 2007. The recalled jewelry contains high levels of lead. 

Only jewelry with item numbers KS1367SS and KS1369SCP are included in the recall. The item number is printed on the back of the packaging. The children's jewelry sets were sold in a variety of sets including pink or white pearl-like necklace, bracelet and earring or ring combinations. Some sets have studded charms dangling on the bracelet and the necklace. 

Consumers should return the jewelry to the store where purchased for a refund.

AUTO ZONE BOOSTER CABLES 

AutoZone Parts Inc. is recalling Valucraft Booster Cables sold nationwide from June 2007 to October 2007. The booster cables clamps were assembled incorrectly resulting in reverse polarity. This poses an electrical shock and explosion hazard. 

This recall involves the Valucraft eight gauge and ten gauge booster cables. The cables are orange and have "8GA" or "10GA" printed on them. 

Consumers should return the cables to any AutoZone store for a full refund or a free replacement.

HOOKER FURNITURE BUNK BEDS 

Hooker Furniture Corporation is recalling Bunk Beds sold nationwide at Hooker Furniture retailers from August 2005 to August 2007. The bunk beds have gaps between parts of the upper bunk that could allow a child's body to pass through but not a child's head. This poses an entrapment or strangulation hazard. 

The recalled bunk beds come in twin-over-twin, twin-over-full and loft beds with the following model names: "Albany Park," "Swedish Accents," "Mariner's Landing," and "Chelsea's Place". The bunk beds come in cherry, white, and black finishes. Some of the bunk beds are also made of metal. 

Consumers should contact the retailer where purchased to schedule a free, in-home repair.

Venmar Ventilation Inc. is recalling Heat Recovery Ventilators sold nationwide from October 2006 to December 2007. The thermal protector in these units can fail, posing a potential fire hazard.
