House Approves Funding Bill Containing Illinois Projects

[December 19, 2007]  WASHINGTON -- By a vote of 253-154, the U.S. House approved legislation Monday night that would fund federal government programs for fiscal 2008. The Senate was expected to act on the legislation Tuesday.

Contained in the measure was funding for several projects requested by U.S. Rep. Ray LaHood, R-Peoria. Those projects, listed by funding agency, are as follows:

Department of Justice

Logan County Sheriff's Department

  • $846,000 for countywide communication system upgrade

Adams County Emergency Management Agency

  • $376,000 to complete installation of communications upgrades

Adams County Sheriff's Office

  • $282,000 for the purchase of interoperable communications equipment

City of Springfield

  • $400,000 for telecommunications upgrades

Department of Agriculture

National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research, Peoria

  • $1,869,819 for lab construction

  • $837,099 for crop production and food processing

Biotechnology Research Development Corp., Peoria

  • $2,666,205 for Biotechnology Research Development Corp.

  • $872,847 for Animal Health Consortium

University of Illinois

  • $862,917 for Illinois-Missouri Alliance for Biotechnology
