[December 22, 2007]  (AP) -- The following recalls have been announced:

- New Era Canning Company is recalling 1026 cans of GFS Fancy Blue Lake Cut green beans because they may be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, which causes botulism, a potentially fatal form of food poisoning. No illnesses have been reported, according to the New Era, Mich., company. The canned green beans were distributed to businesses in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia and sold through GFS Marketplace stores in Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee. The green beans are packaged in cans under the GFS brand with the lot code 19H7FL. - AM2 PAT Inc. is recalling about 17,000, one lot, of Pre-Filled Heparin Lock Flush Solution USP syringes, because the syringes are contaminated with the bacteria Serratia marcescens. There have been 40 patient infections, according to the company's president, Patel Dushyant. This type of bacterial infection could lead to serious injury or death. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has confirmed growth of Serratia marcescens from several unopened syringes of this product, according to the company. Manufacturer Sierra Pre-Filled, of Angier, N.C., distributed the syringes nationwide including in the states Florida, Texas, Illinois, Colorado and Pennsylvania. - About 43,000 covered warmer dishes with rack, imported by Lenox Group Inc. and made in China and Indonesia, because flames from the tea candle can extend up the sides of the dish and a label on the bottom of the dish causes excessive smoke when exposed to the flame. This poses fire and burn hazards to consumers. The company has received eight reports of flames extending up the sides of the dish and smoking. No injuries have been reported. The product was sold at Lenox and department stores nationwide from October through December this year. - About 1,000 sterling silver teething rings, made by Empire Silver Company in the United States, because the silver ball that holds the ring in place can separate and release the beads inside. This poses a choking and aspiration hazard to infants. No injuries or incidents have been reported. The recalled sterling silver teething rings were sold in three styles: single ring with ball, single ring with heart and ball, and three rings with ball. The hollow ring has small beads inside that make a rattling sound. The product was sold at independent jewelry, gift, specialty and department stores nationwide last month. - About 38,250 pressure cookers, imported by Manttra Inc. and made by TTK Prestige Ltd. in India, because the lid can separate and allow hot contents to spill out if the pressure cookers are not closed properly. This poses a risk of burns to consumers. Manttra has received two reports of hot contents spilling out of the pressure cookers, resulting in minor burn injuries. The recall involves the Manttra Smart Series five-piece stainless steel multi cooker sets. The model No. 38270 is stamped on the base of the 8-quart stainless steel cooker. The pressure cookers were sold at Kohl's, Robinson's, Sears and Carson Pirie Scott stores nationwide from June 2003 through April this year. - About 12,000 Jewel brand girls' hooded sweat shirts, distributed by Liberty Apparel Co. Inc. and made in India, because the sweat shirts have a drawstring through the hood, which can pose a strangulation hazard to children. No incidents or injuries have been reported. The sweat shirts were sold in two styles: the "Big Heart" zip-up long sleeve hooded sweat shirt in black, light pink and purple colors, and the "Small Stars" long sleeve hooded jacket sweat shirt in green, khaki, navy and orange colors. The clothing was sold at Marshalls and other specialty children's clothing retailers nationwide from August through November this year. - About 2,800 Super Magnets toys, imported by Man's Trading Company and made in China, because the magnet attached to the bottom of a small toy panda can detach. If swallowed or aspirated by young children, the magnets can attract each other internally and cause internal damage that can be fatal. No incidents or injuries have been reported. The half-inch toys, sold eight to a package, are shaped and painted to resemble panda bears. A small magnet is attached to the bottom of the toy. -Test strips used with the Contour TS Blood Glucose Meter from Bayer Diabetes Care because of the possibility of a positive bias reading outside of product specifications. Marketed mainly through mail order in the U.S., the recalled products and their product code numbers are 1802, meter kit with 10 strips; 1820, bottle of 50 strips; and 9578, bottle of 10 strips. -All varieties and all lots of Whole Foods Market 365 Organic Everyday Value Swiss Milk Chocolate Bars with best if used by dates of 11/08/09, because of undeclared milk and tree nuts. This expands a previous recall. People with allergies or severe sensitivities to milk or tree nuts could have serious or life-threatening reactions.
