[December 28, 2007]  SPRINGFIELD -- "The Lincoln Log," a day-by-day feature that explains what Abraham Lincoln wrote, will begin Jan. 1.

The Lincoln Log is a joint venture between the Illinois Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission, The Papers of Abraham Lincoln and the Illinois Press Association.

Each entry has been compiled and edited by The Papers of Abraham Lincoln, a project of the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency that is scanning every document written to or by Abraham Lincoln during his lifetime.

The Lincoln Log will run for two full years, through Dec. 31, 2009, making approximately 730 unique entries available for newspaper readers. The time frame coincides with the state's observance of the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial, with events scheduled over the next two years in many Illinois communities. Lincoln's 200th birthday is Feb. 12, 2009.
