[FEB. 3, 2007]
Every month, CIEDC provides over 4,000 meals to
seniors in Mason and Logan counties. Beginning Feb. 14, seniors age
60 or older have a new option for receiving meal service from CIEDC.
|
Beginning Feb. 16, CIEDC will begin a collaboration with Just Like
Home restaurant, located at 200 N. Adams in Manito. The new
partnership allows seniors who are signed up through the CIEDC
Senior Nutrition Program to receive meals at the restaurant for a $3
suggested meal donation. No individual is ever denied service, but
the suggested donation helps defray costs. Meals will also be
delivered to the following areas for the same cost: Manito, Forest
City, Goofy Ridge, Topeka and Buzzville.
The program receives partial funding from Area Agency on Aging of
Lincolnland and the Mason County Board but requires community
support and program income to run. A March 31 fundraiser,
"Cheeseburger in Paradise," is currently being planned to raise
funds.

Interested meal program participants are invited to sign up for
the service and meet the senior nutrition staff on Feb. 14, 15 and
16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Staff will be available to register new
participants and greet current participants interested in learning
more about this new option. All who sign up or inquire about the
program will receive a free gift.
CIEDC is a Community Action agency serving seniors and low-income
residents through a variety of program in Logan, Mason, Menard,
Fulton, DeWitt and Piatt counties. For more information, visit
